Halstead has been the home of many people that have gone on to make a "splash" in the world outside of the city limits.   We in Halstead are very proud of so many people who have shared their talents with the country and in some cases the world.

Bernard Warkentin    Led Mennonite farmers to settle in south central Kansas where they introduced Turkey Red Wheat.

Dr. Arthur E. Hertzler    Famous "Horse and Buggy Doctor" author and founder of  "Little Mayo of the Mid-west"

Adolph Rupp           The Winningest Coach in college basketball 1967,

Jim Roper                Winner first NASCAR Strictly Stock Race 1949, now Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series,

Bobby Berger          Saddle bronc rider, inducted into ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 1990.   World Champion 1971,

                                1979 and 1980 , Inducted into Halstead High School Athletic Hall of Fame 2013

Conrad Nightingale   U.S. Olympiic Athlete , 1968, Mexico City, 3,000 meter steeple chase.

Adolph Rupp    Halstead High School graduate 1919.  Kansas University basketball player.  Winningest College basketball coach University of Kentucky,
